I received my fortune out of an original 1928 “BIG” style fortune telling machine.
Kind of creepy, definitely worth the 25 cents!

February 1st, 2010 – So Fresh, So Clean

with one comment

In the past I have always had a calendar where all you did was TURN THE PAGE to get to the next month. This year I acquired a calendar which calls for TEARING OFF the previous month to get to the next one. I must say I thoroughly enjoy this. There is something therapeutic in the motion of ripping off the previous month and starting fresh. It is like getting rid of all the mistakes, all the lame, boring days, and forgetting the moments in the month before in which you COULD HAVE done something spectacular or amazing or personal or just down right silly, but you didn’t. A clean slate. A whole new month is brought before your eyes in the form of numbers in square boxes. A whole new month given to you to experience new things, meet new people, learn from your regrets, work harder, play harder, try harder. I encourage you do the same, whether you have a “tear off” calendar or not, and then CHERISH THE DAYS! Because I am certainly going to.

Goodbye January! Hello February!

**(Awesome calendar huh? Yeah. I got it from a chinese restaurant in Vermont over the holidays. They were hanging all over the restaurant and I thought maybe they had them for sale, so I asked, and the lady said NO as she walked over, took one down, and GAVE IT TO ME! Definitely one of the best Christmas presents I received this year!)

your friendship pass is about to EXPIRE!

leave a comment »

How long are you suppose to wait before cutting all ties or giving up on someone who does not seem to give a shit either way if you are friends or not? Is there an expiration date on these sort of things?

Isn’t a true friend supposed to be there for you no matter what? And vice versa? Whether they are there to talk to, party with, bullshit with, confide in, laugh with, etc. I fully understand that there are different levels of friendships with people. But when do you decide to trim the fat so to speak and cut off those who are just bringing you down or doing nothing to enhance your well-being WHAT-SO-FUCKING-EVER!?

What if lately it has been a one way street, a one way friendship? All give, no get.

It is the same with any relationship. There should be an equal balance of give and take. But what if lately all you are doing is giving and all they are doing is taking?

I have no room or time in my life for “FAIR WEATHER FRIENDS”. So if that is what you have chosen to be with me, forget it! Either move on, or fill out the Friendship Renewal Form listed below, via comment.

Thank you!

Name:

How/When We Met:

Why You Consider Us Friends:

Your Favorite Memory With Me:

Why You Believe We Should REMAIN Friends:

*I fully understand that this seems highly narcissistic, but trust me, it is also highly necessary.

They should actually do this more often, his voice is PERFECT for this Bob Dylan song.

Phoenix covering Bob Dylan’s Sad Eyed Lady of The Lowlands

Interesting facts about the original Dylan song:

This song is about Sara Lownds, who was Dylan’s wife at the time. The title of the song was created from her name: SAd eyed lAdy of the LOWlaNDS. Sara is the mother of Jakob Dylan (The Wallflowers, duh!) and was actually born in Wilmington, Delaware. Now you know!

FOOD LOVERS REJOICE!!

An article in the LA Times proclaims that we can now turn that 5-second rule into…

(wait for it)

the 30-SECOND RULE!

The chart was inspired by the cutting-edge research of two biology students from Connecticut College, who tested the validity of that famous food safety axiom, the 5-second rule.

In an ingenious series of experiments, they dropped apple slices and Skittles candies on the ground and measured how long it took for dangerous bacteria to render it unsafe to eat. They found that the axiom could safely be renamed the 30-second rule.

You can read the full article HERE! Where they even explain WTF an Emausaurus is!

Bad thoughts are worse enemies than lions and tigers;

for we can keep out of the way of wild beasts, but bad

thoughts win their way everywhere. The cup that is

full will hold no more; keep your hearts full of good

thoughts, that bad thoughts may find no room to enter.

Spontaneity is the keyword.

leave a comment »

I have no words for what I’ve just found online. Maybe this is old news.
Oh well.
I’m in love.
Please enjoy…

About the Take Away Shows

The Take away shows are la Blogotheque’s first video podcasts.

Every week, we invite an artist or a band to play in the streets, in a bar, a park, or even in a flat or in an elevator, and we film the whole session. Of course, what makes the beauty of it is all the little incidents, hesitations, and crazy stuff happening unexpectingly. Besides, we do not edit the videos so they look perfectly flawless, instead we keep the raw sound of the surroundings. Our goal is to try and capture instants, film the music just like it happens, without preparation, without tricks. Spontaneity is the keyword.

The Take away shows exist since April 2006. There was Chryde, who wanted to shake things up and find another way to share music, and there was Vincent Moon, who wanted to film music differently. Chryde offered Moon to go and film musicians in the city, Moon seized the idea and glorified it. Since then, other directors across the world joined this project, and we plan to extend it worldwide.

Go HERE to read explanations on what you’ve just seen in the videos!!

Phoenix is not the only band to participate in a Take Away Show. Go to LA BLOGOTHEQUE to see the vast multitude of artists who have done these shows all over the world!! It’s amazing.

I also really like this one by Bon Iver…beautiful!!

The storybook wolf by José Luis Rodríguez (Spain)
Iberian wolves have been persecuted by people who see them as a threat to game and livestock and are superstitious about the danger they pose. Rodríguez hopes his picture, ‘showing the wolf’s great agility and strength’, will make the Spanish proud to have such an emblematic animal.

BLOODY F*CKING NUTS!

And just when you thought things were getting too serious & “artsy” with this damn blog…I bring you The Midnight Beast! This video is their parody of Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok”. I actually saw THIS video before I ever even heard this Lady Gaga wannabe’s original version. I have a sick feeling that this Ke$ha chick is going to be “all the rage” in 2010, or at least for a few months anyway. So, my goal is to make EVERYONE in America think of these three British boys and their video whenever Ke$ha and her glitter make some sort of pop bullshit appearance on tv in the coming months.

[An overdue statement, said through someone else’s words…]

I’m sorry if I’ve made your life complicated. I’m sorry for a lot of things, but most of all that I never got the chance to tell you that, no matter what happens next, I’ll never be anything but grateful for every moment I spent with you. And even though I keep fumbling for the right words, all I really wanted to say was thank you.

I’m always here. I’ll love you for eva eva.

How far did you have to walk to get some clean drinking water today?

leave a comment »

What do Santigold, Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch and Lupe Fiasco all have in common?

They, as well as several others, are CURRENTLY climbing all 19,340 feet of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Tanzania, Africa to fight the global clean water crisis and more importantly to raise awareness about this ongoing issue.

They are, doing this extreme thing to qualify the extreme nature of the issue. The climb, which began this morning at 5:30am, will likely take seven days and is more than 50 miles of treacherous terrain.

Along the way, the celebs will be posting tweets, photos and video blogs about the climb on the highly interactive website:

http://summitonthesummit.com

You can also follow the effort on Twitter:

twitter.com/SOTSK

There are over ONE BILLION people in the world who do have access to clean, safe drinking water.

Please visit the website and AT LEAST familiarize yourself with this issue and learn how we can help solve the problem.

Thank you!

(Oh, and if you can bare to part with the Jersey Shore for a night [*barf*] MTV will be chronicling the climb in a 90-minute documentary scheduled to air on March 14th at 9 p.m.)
